Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone. This is what Ephesians 2: 19-22 and 1 Peter 2:7 teaches. But what does that mean? How does it effect our life and faith?
In ancient times, builders used "cornerstones" on their constructions projects. The cornerstone was the strongest and biggest stone, usually placed in the corner. It carried the weight of of the entire building. It held everything together. It was used to align all other stones.
Wow! All this gives us a picture of what Jesus can do in life?
Jesus can handle our problems. He can handle our stress. No wonder why Apostle Peter teaches us to "cast our care upon the Lord."
As the Chief Cornerstone, Jesus also holds everything together. "He is before all things, and in him all things hold together," says Colossians 1:17. If he can hold the universe together, he can hold our lives together. Our marriages together. And even our minds together.
Lastly, Jesus is our standard. We align our behavior with His behavior. We align our attitude with His attitude. This is what it means to FOLLOW Jesus.
